Rottweiler-- "Rottie"
History: The
Rottweiler breed dates back all the way to the Roman Empire. It was
likely to be a descendant of an ancient roman drover dog; a
mastiff-type do that was dependable, rugged dog with great
intelligence and guarding instincts. During the world wars,
Rottweilers were put into service in various roles including
messenger, ambulance, draught and guard dog. An uncommon fact about
rottweilers is that they are the oldest herding breeds around. From
1914 to 1915, Germany had two different clubs about rottweilers; the
clubs were called the Duetscher Rottweiler-Klub(DRK) and Suddeutscher
Rottweiler-Klub(SDRK). Few months after the creations of the two
clubs, they joined together to create IRK(International Rottweiler
Club). After being a hard-working dog, they were officially a
recognized breed in 1931. After becoming an official breed, in the
mid 1990s Rottweilers reached an all time high for being the most
wanted dog.
Why Rottweiler Makes Great Pet: Rottweilers
would make an outstanding pet for a family because they are calm,
steady-tempered and extremely friendly to everyone. They make a
splendid companion for a child or even an adult and you get to have
that special pet for about ten or more years. A plus about owning a
Rottweiler is if you are interesting in running this dog is a great
companion to take with you because they require a minimal amount of
exercise. Even if you not big into exercise, if you have a child they
are great with them. You never have to have to worry about an attack
and plus all the playing is enough exercise for your “Rottie”.
While owning a rottweiler and any other dog, you may experience the
rottweiler having 8-12 more little Rottie's. Getting to experience a
special moment like that is something to cherish. The downside to
owning a rottweiler is that do have a lot of health issues associated
with them; however, if you follow the veterinarian's recommended
vaccine protocol your rottweiler will defeat the odds.
Health Problems: Rottweilers
are a relatively health breed; however, they are prone to a lot of
health issues that can be prevented if handled correctly. This breed
is known to get cancer which is the common reason for early death in
rottweilers. Cancer would be the only health issue that would be hard
to prevent in this breed because its transferred through the genes.
Rottweilers are prone to obesity which could cause arthritis,
breathing difficulties, diabetes, heart failures and other serious
health problems. A way to prevent your rottweiler from getting
obesity is to regularly exercise with your dog. Just a little
exercise a day could minimize the chance of you companion getting
ill.
Myths:
1.They are a stubborn breed.
2.They will turn on you.
3.They will attack children.
4. They are aggressive toward other animals
Myths:
5. They Should Be Kept Outdoors
6. They're Bad With Other Animals
I like Rottweilers, and their like pitbulls being judged that they're mean and will turn on you. But it's all in how you take care of them. My friend had one and he barked all the time and growled and was kinda mean. I love dogs but I didn't like being around that one, but like I said before all about how you raise them.
