Golden Retrievers -- "Retrievers"
History: The
notorious Golden Retriever was first encountered near Glen Affric in
Scotland. When it first was encountered, Golden Retrievers were more
popular among the higher class rather than middle or lower. Since
becoming known, any common descendent were still unknown; however,
they believe it to be originated from the Russian Tracker breed. This
breed was extremely popular as a gun dog(hunting dog). The reason
they were bred was so the public could have a dog that would retrieve
the kill; either it be in water or on land. Through this method, a
lot of kills were found and not left around. Known to retrieve their
master kills; this is how it got its name “retriever”. After
becoming such a popular breed it took till 1913 to finally be
accepted by the United Kennel Club. It wasn’t till another 14 years
later when the bred was recognized in America, in 1925 and start to
be accepted in other places.
